I have been following the Keto lifestyle for almost a year now. My life before starting Keto was full of unhealthy eating habits and minimal exercise. I lead a very busy life with my husband and two daughters, working in the travel business as well as working as a Dental Assistant and taking classes to become a Dental hygienist! Not only did weight begin to pack on me, I felt unhealthy and I wanted better for myself to be better for my family.
When my busy schedule started getting the best of me physically, I knew it was time for a change. I decided to jump right into Keto! I chose Keto over any other diet because to me, it was more than a diet; it was a lifestyle change that I felt was realistically achievable for me. With Keto, there is nothing restrictive, only healthier alternatives to the yummy food that I already eat!
I started out by minimizing the amount of carbs that I consumed daily. Shortly after, I started intermittent fasting and exercising every day; with a bike ride, walking, or running. I find it best to go in the morning, as that motivates me to continue my day with more healthy options and choices. I think the misconception is that exercise has to be strenuous and if you’re not drenched in sweat from working out for two hours then it’s a waste of time. For me it has been therapeutic and relaxing, and I only exercise about 30-45 minutes 3 days a week!
One of the best rewards of this change has been introducing my family to a healthier life as well! They love many of the dishes I make. One of my favorite meals to make is pork rind crusted chicken, which I first tried with the Pork King Good pork rinds I got in my March Keto Krate!
My Keto goal for the future is simply to keep motivating others to give yourself a chance! I have many people asking me how I began, what do I eat, and how can I help. Keto is a treasure I found for my health and I want others to know that it isn’t a quick-fix, nor is it a trendy diet. If they give themselves the time, it could change their lives.
My best advice is to do what works for you! Give yourself time and don’t make any assumptions that you will have to get rid of your favorite foods. You can still enjoy your favorite meals, but in a healthier way! And don’t compare your journey to anyone else’s. Your success story will be different because we all are different.
