Hayden's Keto Journey
Hayden Coon is filling Instagram @ketocoon with his delicious Keto meals, his favorite Keto products, and some major weight loss inspiration. And he does it all with a super positive attitude and a zest for life! After reaching his heaviest weight at his high school graduation, he knew he needed to turn his health around. He has now conquered the Keto lifestyle, intermittent fasting, and even has a Keto BBQ business in the works! Read Hayden’s story and prepare to be inspired.
I grew up battling my weight since as long as I can remember. Low self-esteem and low self-confidence were the norm. I was tipping the scales at almost 285 lbs at my high school graduation and I knew something had to change because I was becoming increasingly unhealthy. The last straw for me was feeling completely out of control of my health and sick of gaining weight back from all of the diets I had tried and failed. I started following a Ketogenic lifestyle in fall of 2018 after hearing so much buzz about it, and I ended up losing over 100lbs in the short span of a year!
My plan of attack started with doing a TON of research. I read books, became familiar with the backwards studies that gave us our failed “food pyramid,” and absorbed as much information as I could. I chose Keto because I can eat some of the foods I love — like bacon, meat, and greens.
It’s not only the weight loss that has kept me following this way of life. Keto has cleared my “brain fog” and brought me increased mental clarity like never before. It has given me a physical and cognitive edge. Also, all the dry skin/eczema that I always battled has completely vanished! Seeing my own transformation before my eyes and reflecting on my past motivates me to continue this lifestyle.
Today, I follow mostly OMAD, eating one big Keto-friendly meal once a day. Fasting has always been a huge part of my journey and 20+ hour fasts make me feel my absolute best. On the weekends, I sometimes have a big Keto breakfast and that’s when I like to enjoy my Keto snacks! On that note, KetoKrate has been nothing short of a blessing. I look forward to that package every month! It’s introduced me to some of my favorite snacks like Primal Noms Mug Cakes, Dang Bars, Explorado Market products, Bunker Hill Crunchy Cheese Crisps, StokaBar, and KetoBars! KetoKrate has played a big part in helping me stay Keto and not succumb to sugar cravings.
To someone starting out, I would always recommend easing into it. Restrict carbs slowly and see how you react. So many people fear the Keto flu, but I think it can be avoided by slowly transitioning.
I have some big plans for the future! I’m starting a Keto friendly BBQ trailer (which is already in the works) and I would like to create a program to get other people started on Keto in the easiest way possible. I also have a killer low-carb pancake recipe I’m working on that will blow you away!
