I have been overweight as long as I can remember. I was 250 pounds in high school. When I was in college, I got down to 208 by incorporating more activity. I met my now ex-husband, who was very toxic, and by the time I graduated and got married in 2015, I had reached my heaviest weight of 262 pounds.
Not long after that, I found out I had PCOS. I saw lots of Keto success stories from others with PCOS and in September of 2017 I jumped right in at 254.6 pounds. I got started by keeping things very simple. I planned to wait until I did more research, but a friend was very motivated to get started right away, so I decided I would, too. And I stuck with it!
A few months later I was down 40 pounds and feeling better in so many ways. In January of 2018, I did something I never thought I could; I left my narcissistic husband. Since then I’ve gone through a nasty divorce and got a much better job. My life has gotten much better in lots of ways and I think Keto had a big part in that. I was feeling better physically, and the mental clarity really benefited me.
Keto felt different because it enabled me to lose weight while eating enough to be full. I was able to eat delicious foods and still stay in my calorie goal. And seeing continuous progress on the scale was very encouraging! I’m currently about 75 pounds down and ready to reach my original goal of losing 80 pounds. From there, I have my sights set on my new big goal of being 100 pounds down!
My advice to someone starting out is to take measurements and progress photos. Don’t just rely on the scale as a measure of success. Recalculate macros as your weight fluctuates, make sure you are knowledgeable about electrolytes and how to calculate net carbs, and keep Keto friendly snacks on hand so you’re always prepared. If you fall off the wagon, don’t beat yourself up, just keep going! And finally, try not to compare your journey to others. Make the goal to be better than YOU were yesterday.
I love KetoKrate because it enables me to try brands before buying large quantities. Every Krate included amazing treats I had been wanting to try like they read my mind! I always have snacks I can keep in the car or my purse, which helps me avoid bad food choices when I’m out and my options are limited. Some of my favorite snacks I’ve gotten in the Krate are Magic Spoon Cereal (fruity is my favorite), High Key cookies (I like to eat them like cereal in milk), and Choczero chocolate (anything white chocolate is my favorite)!
